EDLD 5399 SBEC Self-Assessment

EDLD 5399

Week One

To be honest I stole the ideas of Tom and Jeff to convert the assessment tool to a numeric value to enable me to apply an easy standard of measure in identifying areas of strength and needs.  For “strengths” I assigned a value of 4.  For “competent” I assigned a value of 3.  For “areas to improve” I assigned a value of 2.  I have experienced growth in all competencies but maintained the same order of rank in each domain.  I feel that no one leader will be a master of all competencies but will need the proficiency to evaluate the performance of those he/she hires to support these areas.  None-the-less, I clearly have supporting evidence for target areas for professional growth.

Instructional leadership provides the greatest area of needed growth with Leadership of the Educational Community and Administrative Leadership being stronger domains.  I believe that this is reflective of my past educational experiences as well as personal disposition.  As I self-assessed I found myself thinking of these experiences and of the experiences this year that have contributed to my growth.  The above chart will provide an outstanding tool to prioritize my personal professional development plan as I work toward my goal of becoming a successful superintendent.
